Kid Friendly Pubs in the Peak District
There’s nothing quite like going out for a nice long walk in the Peak District and cosying up in a nice pub for a roast.
This may be easier said than done however, if you have young children and they like to run around and cause trouble. As much as an iPad or a game might keep them entertained for a while, it can be a challenge to keep them sat still while you enjoy your pub meal.
One of the great things about the Peak District is that the majority of the pubs are kid-friendly, with kids menus and playgrounds.
Here are our top recommendations:
The Bull’s Head
The Bull’s Head located in Monyash boasts a fantastic playground for kids right next door which has everything from swings to a zipline! Not only that but the food is outstanding and the pub has a great atmosphere as well.
The Star Inn
Located in Tideswell, this family friendly pub is the perfect place to take the kids.
The White Lion
The White Lion in Great Longstone is well known for its great food. The young couple who have run it since 2009 have made a lot of improvements to the pub like refurbishing the downstairs area. The menu also consists of dishes made with local produce.
For the parents, the bar is well stocked with ales and other alcoholic beverages, along with non-alcoholic drinks for the kids.
We advise that you book ahead, especially at the weekend as tables tend to get booked up quickly.
The Knot Inn
Located in Macclesfield, the Knot Inn offers the perfect place to conclude a long family walk. The Knot Inn offers a very traditional atmosphere with home-cooked meals and a fireplace.
The Merlin
This pub is located in Pride Park in Derby and has a playground for kids complete with a fireman’s pole and a climbing frame. Not only that but there are also arcade machines inside, which should keep the kids occupied for a while.
Dusty Miller

The Red Lion
You can find this charming traditional pub in the village of Waterfall. Here you and your family can enjoy good quality pub food. If you happen to be in the area for Christmas Eve, you can bring your kids along to visit Santa!

Bentley Brook Inn
This real ale pub can be found in Ashford. The pub has a great big beer garden, perfect to give your kids a bit of fresh air.
The Wheatsheaf
This pub in Baslow is just the thing if you have been visiting Chatsworth House as it is so close. The pub has a family-friendly beer garden with a playground for the kids complete with slides and a climbing frame, so ideal for a nice sunny day. There are tables by the play park, so perfect for you to keep an eye on your little ones while you enjoy a drink.
