Castleton Christmas Market
Castleton is one of the best decorated villages in the Peak District around christmas time with magical christmas lights lighting up the night and christmas trees outside of almost every shop, cafe and pub. The village is such a spectacle that it attracts visitors from all over the country
The family friendly festivities in Castleton normally begin in November with activities and a Santa’s grotto. In December, Father Christmas normally parades through the village, providing a spectacle for the children.
The Christmas market itself has over 20 vendors and 2 food trucks, though the village shops also stay open slightly later for Christmas shoppers.
Buxton Christmas Market
With a wide range of local artisans along with food and drink producers, Buxton Christmas Market is an excellent spot to do some Christmas shopping. The Market runs from the 11th December.
Matlock Victorian Christmas Market
The largest Christmas Market in the Peak District, the Matlock Victorian Christmas Market also plays host to the Christmas lights ceremony complete with attractions and fireworks. The market is host to a whopping 200 stalls along with a santas grotto along with other entertainment for visitors. The market runs between the 3rd and 5th of December with Matlock’s shops and cafes remaining open throughout the weekend.
Chatsworth Christmas Market
The Christmas Market located at Chatsworth House takes place over 2 weekends between 17th November and 5th December. The marketplays host to over 100 stalls along with live music along with plenty of festive food.
Haddon Hall Mercatum Winter Artisan Market
Some of the country’s best artisans come together every year at the Haddon Hall Mercatum Winter Artisan Market, located on the property’s grounds. The magnificent Haddon Hall will be beautifully decorated and feature festive music along with food and much more over the weekends of the 18-21 November and 25-28 November.
Handmade Hayfield Festive Market
Normally held towards the end of November, this market takes place at the Royal Hotel in Hayfield. The market features incredible food along with over 50 stalls with crafts from some of Derbyshire’s best artisans.
Buxton Christmas Market
The Buxton Christmas Market takes place on the 10th December in the Pavilion Gardens. The market has a Santa’s grotto, children’s rides and live music along with over 40 selling products ranging from jewelry to Christmas food and drink.
Poole’s Cavern Santa’s Grotto
While you are in Buxton you may want to pay a visit to Poole’s Cavern, especially if you have kids. During Christmas time the cavern is transformed into a magical Santa’s Grotto complete with spectacular lights and elves. Your kids will get the chance to meet santa and will receive a gift from the man himself.
Chesterfield Christmas Market
Every year in November Chesterfield hosts an annual Christmas Market and light switch on ceremony. Between noon and night, there will be plenty of events and attractions to help keep the whole family entertained, including fireworks displays, rides and games.
Derby’s Ethical Christmas Market
Derby’s Ethical Christmas Market takes place on the 5th November at St Werburgh’s, Friar Gate Derby. This Christmas market has over 30 stalls selling ethically made artisan goods along with festive food and drinks.
